I have been asked to try and identify a sword owned by a friend. I have some ideas as to when the sword was made and other general aspects but need help confirming the Kanji on the habaki.

Your assistance is appreciated as I will try to acquire the item since he uses it in a most destructive manner. Often as a common machete, the sword needs to be identified and protected.

Mr. Bowen,

Please forgive me but I am unsure how to interpret your response wholly. I understand Showa as the period of the reign of Emperor Hirohito, but what is adatenak?

Backwards :freak:

Kanetada. Showato is the name given to the mass produced (as opposed to traditionally made) swords made during the Showa era (mainly WW II) and the Showa arsenal stamp verifies it.

Please forgive my crude attempt at illustrating the inconvenience of having to read something that is not posted in the correct orientation.

The maker is Kanetada.....
