Robertex Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Any assistance will be greatly appreciated in identifying this tanto. I've had this for years but never got around to putting an ID on it. Unfortunatley, I can't remove the habaki, as all of my proper tools are long gone. It appears mumei, but with the habaki still on there's no clear view of all file marks, etc. Many thanks in advance! Quote
mdiddy Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Looks like a WWII-era machine made tanto. The kanji on the blade say "Suishinshi Masahide". Quote
Brian Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Yep..what Matt said. Not traditionally made, typical of the personal WW2 soldier's knife. Often with a dedication to a famous maker on the blade. Brian Quote
Robertex Posted August 28, 2010 Author Report Posted August 28, 2010 Gents, Many thanks for the responses! Any idea of the kanji on the handle and burlap cover? I still have my Nelson's, but getting lazy these days! Quote
