Also brought in my gunto Masayuki gimei, indeed gimei, not too old, but an early 1930's hand forged sword, good condition, the Japanese experts there were amused because of the signature, and were very interested to see all seppa were number equal. they liked the silver habaki and the blade too as well as the good quality tsuba which in combination with the blade told them it was indeed an early one. However they advised me not to go to a togishi in Japan since usually they refuse to polish gunto. I did not get their names sorry to say. a very nice and helpful older man with glasses (Hashimoto ?) and a younger guy in his twenties. Also, on seeing the minuscule nick in the blades upper side they shouted out oooh Kita ! the straight lined small kizu ware was a sign it was hand made according to them. the only downside was that the aluminum koshirae did not retain its paint. all in all a great day !!

Unfortunately the sword exhibition was only three days.

Bad luck because I am in Amsterdam this Wednesday and Thusday.

Well, a miss is as good as a mile... ;)
