I need some help translating a signed Tsuba, any information would be greatly appreciated. I believe it is made by Mori Michi of Joshu Province and dated Possibly a gift to another person at the time There is two lines of characters on both sides of this Tsuba. Thank you kindly for the reply on the date, there are other inscriptions on this Tsuba that I am not sure of and please look at and confirm the maker of the Tsuba

Here you go. My guess would be:

 

"Tenmei shichi-nen/ hinoto-hitsuji fuyu" on one side. This was translated already.

 

"Sasshu Ka-Fu/ Kawakami (or Kawaue) TAKEYOSHI tsukuru" on the other side.

Meaning "Kawakami/Kawaue (family name) TAKEYOSHI made this in Kagoshima prefecture in Satsuma province"

The left line of the mei looks 川上氏良近 (Kawakami-shi Yoshichika = Yoshichika of Kawakami clan). But I am a little unsure as I could not find such a name.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one, unless your post is really relevant and adds to the topic..
