keep trying, it is the only way to learn. Grey Doffin sells a great set of Kanji flashcards i used to help me translate and learn the kanji. you might ask him about them.

Thanks for the suggestion Mark, I might have to try that. I have been learning first-hand from a college student from Japan but i am still not so well on my reading...

Hi,

i've some doubts, can we see the whole blade, and some of hada and hamon in high resolution?

Sure,

Minor pitting and maybe some grain openings? I'm still learning.

I think its in great shape for being almost Nanbo.

shape of the blade suggests sue-koto. if it is just a bare blade you do not want to get too much invested as there are plenty of waks that are mounted and papered available on the market

It may just be the picture, but if the black specs are openings in the steel, I would steer well clear of this as this blade would be effectively asleep (worse than just tired IMHO). As Mark said, plenty of fish in the sea.

Thank you all for your replies ^^

It was going at an extremely low price so i had to snag it. Blade comes with a new shira-saya and got it for well under $500.00 so its not setting me back too far even if it turns out to be asleep..

In the pictures, it doesn't look like those are all openings. It looks like some of them are just stains. I don't think you did badly for under 500.

Does it come in Shirasaya or just bare blade?

Yeah, it comes with a shirasaya that looks almost brand new to me. Only downside is the 3 weeks shipping from Japan :bang:

ill lost a picture of the blade down here vv

Sword Arrived today guys, turned out to be in a lot better condition then expected. no major flaws all those black spots were just very light pitting. I think it looks to be rather promising once i get a new polish for it. still haven't made a conclusion on what gassan this is apparently many signed with 2 characters...
