Jérôme Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 Hi everyone, A tanto with a unusual hamon http://www.tokka.biz/sword/tomotaka.html Best regards Jérôme Quote
Mark Green Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 Hi Jerome, The hamon looks quite normal to me. I love those mountings!!!!!! To me, it looks like the sword smith scraped away some clay to form hardened areas in Bonji characters. Kinda spiff, in a way. I wonder if it turned out like he wanted it to. I have never seen this before. Mark G Quote

Interesting looking blade. Quote
Mark Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 could be a type of hitatsura that is sort of "stiff" (like a lot of later ones are) and the hadori work in the kesho polish may make the temper line appear more "normal" Quote
Jérôme Posted July 15, 2010 Author Report Posted July 15, 2010 Hi everyone, Yes it's not the hamon but the areas with bonjis motif are not unusual. Best regards Jérôme Quote
