Blade signed "Masakiyo of Tsukushi Province". There is no date/nengi, however the blade certainly appears gendaito.

It is obviously not the Minatogowa Masakiyo, nor the one in Sloughs.

Is this possibly Tokushima Masakiyo (my thanks George san)?

Would anyone have information on this smith?

My thanks.

yes, it is a gendaito. Tsukushi is probably his family name. There was a Tsukushi Masachika. Possibly related. Mei is well cut....No info on a Tsukushi Masakiyo. Sometimes smiths used a different mei when making blades privately vs for the military....might be a private work...

Hi All,

I have a Kai Gunto signed "Hizen ju Masakiyo" and I cant find very much info on him either. In Walingas book it just says "Very little known" Beautiful sword in fantastic fittings.

Cheers,
