pcfarrar Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Anyone have any thoughts on this wakizashi mei? I think its signed Heianjo Kunishige? The sword is quite interesting with a Kanemoto style sanbonsugi hamon / midare komi boshi. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 The mei is Heianjo Kunishige. Could be just the picture but it looks like the mei and yasurime are newer than the nakago. Is there a bit of the old yasurime left at the top of the current yasurime? Grey Quote
pcfarrar Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 No sign of any old yasurimei. I've enclosed a photo of hamon to show the regular style of sanbonsugi. The sword is healthy and I think I can see some sunagashi on the peaks in places. Maybe this is an unlisted smith or just a gimei....? Quote
pcfarrar Posted June 5, 2010 Author Report Posted June 5, 2010 Anyone have any oshigata for Kunishige, Yamashiro, Edo 1781 (KUN1156) in Hawleys? Looks like a possibility but this smith isn't in any of my reference books. Quote
pcfarrar Posted June 8, 2010 Author Report Posted June 8, 2010 Thanks for the oshigata. I've still had no luck finding anything. Guess the only choice is shinsa. Quote
