Looks a bit tired to me. Looks like it was a nice blade at one time.

Nice enough for someone to fake the biggest signiture in history on it.

Looks like it has been well used.

The signiture looks a bit 'new' too me.

But the blade looks old. Nice nei still hanging on. I don't see much Masamune hada though.

Although, I don't think much jacket steel remains.

Cris,

Not sure what comments you would like?

That there were plenty of smiths called Masamune, but the "Soshu" nakago shape makes me think they were going for a gimei of THE Masamune?

That it is tired and worn and boring and not worth much?

That the seller sells stuff that wouldn't sell in Japan otherwise?

That you should pass on it?

Just wondering ;)

Thank you for comments. I was just amazed because of so many fakes ...

Indeed the blade seems that was something nice long time ago , so maybe indeed is an old fake, not a recent one... or maybe like Brian sugests , maybe is another Masamune. But yes, again, most of the people think of THE Masamune, and I understand that mr Daimyou from ebay (not Jean here ) sells a great mix of fakes and maybe some true things...

Thank you for your comments.

Doug e - It looks like a registration card, all traditional swords in Japan are supposed to have them. It will be turned into authorities before shipping out of the country.
