Drat, I accidentally deleted the entire "Pawel Nowak" thread.

So instead of losing the info, I am using Google cache to post it all back here, where relevant.

As before, I urge people NOT to add to this thread unless they have NEW and RELEVANT info on him. Posting that you also got the email is none of these, as everyone will likely get it at some stage. So no new posts without a good reason please.

I just wanted to post this here for members to see what he is out there peddling now. I have not checked out the papers, and even if I had I dont really know what to look for. I am going to post the email from him as well. If this is not appropriate I apologize, I just know that countless people have been scammed by this guy and I wanted to put this out there for people not aware of this guy in case they are considering buying this or any other stuff from him. He always makes it sound like such a good deal and that he is such a above board guy, just like an expert con man should.

Thank you for your answer. The blade (Blade Length: 28.75 inches Nakago: 7.25 inches .7 mm thick 30 mm wide) I am talking about I have got from one man, Mr. Milakow from California. That was a few years ago. His grandfather was an American officer who served in the US Army during the WWII on Pacific. He was a POW and after the war, he got the sword from one of the Japanese officers. The sword has a WWII wear but the blade, according to the swordsman is from the second part of the XVIII century (Yoshihiro from Yamashira school). If you look at the signs on the blade you will see I am wright. I have a Custom Declaration which prove the that is an antique, genuine Japanese sword. I am not a collector. I am an archivist who has an interest in Maritime History. I live in Poland. I am just before my next research trip to Spain and I am looking for the additional funds. So, I could sell it for the fee of 600 Euro. If you think you could have any interest in such sword, please let me know. I could also my references and credentials I have got in Spanish and English archives to show you that I am a honest man. There are two wakizashi also.

Btw - Pawel Nowak is the Polish equivalent of "John Smith" and is very very common.

They are fake. Very fake. So are all the other documents. No-one realises that this not some scam artist doing this for a few extra bucks. It is a syndicate. A professional syndicate. They know every trick in the book, and that is why they haven't been caught. The Polish police know about this scam, but haven't been able to bust them yet. But there are some leads.

Think there is nothing new we can add to this whole issue, so let's only post if there is some news of an arrest or new critical info.Brian

 

just a quick alert...Pawel Nowack just tried to register on my forum, unsuccessfully , but I've also heard he did manage to join the Italian sword forum and promptly started posting adverts for his dodgy goods in poorly translated Italian :lol:

I am trying to pursue another avenue towards limiting the actions of this scammer.

What I am asking for, is for anyone who has recently been contacted by him, and knows a little bit about computers/email..please could you pm me (not publicly post) the ip address that was used. This means viewing the full email header, and looking for the "from" ip address. Hopefully some of you know how to find that, and are able to forward it to me.

I know they/he is probably using a proxy, but that does not matter with regards to the method I am pursuing.

Hopefully I can make a small and further dent in their actions.

this guy sent me an email selling 2 swords only a few days ago after i registered here so he is most likely going to read this as well ! i have heard of his scams from other internet forums

A general advice for all newbies on NMB would be: Don't go public with your e-mail address from the very beginning. Allowing easy contact with perfect strangers makes you an easy prey.

Once you're familiar with the darker side of the sword-world you can still lift your visor and laugh at the usual suspects.
