klee Posted Thursday at 11:29 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:29 PM Had a quick question for the forum i ve come across a blade before ( sold ) on a dealer page where the mekugi ana plug looks different than that of the NBTHK paper. i.e the original plug was lost/removed and replaced. Do these kind of things happen ? This was the only sample I ve seen and made me wonder what one would do if a plug did indeed fall off. Would this warrant submitting for new papers ? Thank you as always - Kevin L Quote
Mikaveli Posted Thursday at 11:37 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:37 PM It's plausible, although I haven't seen it myself (on nihonto). It nothing else has changed, I wouldn't bother sending it to be re-papered - assuming the nakago is still a clear match. 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted Friday at 12:33 AM Report Posted Friday at 12:33 AM Can't imagine it would make a difference. The plug is not an intrinsic part of the blade. Incidentally, I saw a gold plug the other day which caught my attention. It could have been either solid gold or possibly gilt, gold on copper.(?) 1 Quote
