Nd2025 Posted April 20 Report Posted April 20 Hello, I live in Japan and recently purchased a Yari, no papers although it does have a signature “Kaneuji”. Please see my attached photo. I plan to take it to NBTHK to have it assessed and possibly issue papers. Something that confuses me is how small it is. The sizes are: full length : 130cm Yari nagasa : 94mm motohaba : 15.7mm I was always under the impression than Japanese spears were rather large, but this one seems very small. Does anyone know if the Japanese actually used short spears like this? It seems odd to me. Thank you for your time 2 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted April 20 Report Posted April 20 Nice! Are you talking about the smallness of the blade itself or the whole thing? Either way, yes and yes. Yari came in all sizes. (Sadly though, many longer ones have have been cut down from their original length.) 1 Quote
