lonely panet Posted April 20 Report Posted April 20 i dont remember it being that hard to import in the europe? has something changed? Quote
Rawa Posted April 20 Author Report Posted April 20 Nope. For me its 8% with no customs duty fee except brokerage. But guarantee of low vat is only if I buy with some papers. Its great as long as I dnt have anything to do with national post office as they are so slow. Its better to pay full 23% vat sometimes for making proces quicker. Quote
Rawa Posted April 20 Author Report Posted April 20 But I got once problem with buying from usa. Was impossible to ship sword via plane. Except using fedex. Quote

Expand Import tax is about 20%. Without this board i wouldn't startet collecting Nihonto, because i can get blades here for a fair price. Quote

Mikaveli Posted April 21 Report Posted April 21 On 4/20/2025 at 5:17 PM, Rawa said: 20% in germany? In Poland antiques have 8% Expand It also depends on your country's definition of antique. In the UK, "antiques" only have to pay 5% on import, but that only applies if the item is over 100 years old. A 1943 sword would attract 20% on import. Quote
Karu Posted April 21 Report Posted April 21 From France here, I had to pay 1200€ of custom fees for a sword from AOI Art which was 20% of the price I paid Quote
