Nope. For me its 8% with no customs duty fee except brokerage. But guarantee of low vat is only if I buy with some papers. Its great as long as I dnt have anything to do with national post office as they are so slow. 

Its better to pay full 23% vat sometimes for making proces quicker.

But I got once problem with buying from usa. Was impossible to ship sword via plane. Except using fedex.

Import tax is about 20%. Without this board i wouldn't startet collecting Nihonto, because i can get blades here for a fair price.

20% in germany? In Poland antiques have 8%

It also depends on your country's definition of antique.

 

In the UK, "antiques" only have to pay 5% on import, but that only applies if the item is over 100 years old.

 

A 1943 sword would attract 20% on import.

From France here, I had to pay 1200€ of custom fees for a sword from AOI Art which was 20% of the price I paid
