PNSSHOGUN Posted April 14 Report Posted April 14 That example appears to be an oil quenched sword, the dark peaks of the Hamon are a textbook sign. If there is a true Amahide Gendai shown anywhere, it will appear in Mal's excellent article: 4 1 Quote
David Flynn Posted April 14 Report Posted April 14 I haven't seen one for awhile. They usually have Mokume or Omokume hada, with a Mino style Hamon and Hataraki. 1 Quote
dwmc Posted April 14 Report Posted April 14 I have two, one which my father brought home after WWll, one which I purchased at an estate sale. Both are Dai-saku and Dai-mei, one by Kanemune the other by Hidetoshi. Will post photos of the Hidetoshi when I get a chance, brother is in possession of Kanemune (Amahide.) Dave M Quote
Gerry Posted April 14 Report Posted April 14 This one on Yahoo Japan seems like a water quenched hand forged example: https://www.jauce.com/auction/o1180603965 2 Quote
dwmc Posted April 18 Report Posted April 18 These are the additional photos I mentioned previously. I believe this sword to be an Amahide dai saku / dai mei by Ido Hidetoshi. I believe it to be Gendaito. Quote
