Hi fellas,

This came with a sword I recently purchased. I’ve compared it with other examples by Mitsutoshi, and honestly, it doesn’t feel like a gimei—but I’d love to get a second opinion.

Thanks a lot!

Inlay with nanako looking neat. Judging by the execution of the work, it looks like the original, just a little worn.

If you look at it without zooming in, you can see the effect of "silk")

I concur, the Nanako look pretty great, quality of materials are high and most importantly the mei+kao looks like a spot on match.

I think you've struck gold, congratulations Okan!

I've also had a look at a few other examples of the mei on various kozuka and such and there is little doubt in my opinion.

Darcy would have loved this.

He liked turtles and used one as his avatar for a long time.

That f/k is pretty exceptional.

Is the fuchi signed?

It is. Ōmori Hidetomo.

Though I suspect it might be gimei.
