kevin2208 Posted April 1 Report Posted April 1 Hi there fellow collectors! Have a Gassan Wakizashi that I am looking to sell, it was acquired around 2-3 years ago during a trip to Japan. This blade and its patterns are particularly beautiful in the right setting/lighting, and has a standout gold tang signature. Comes with a gold foil habaki, shirasaya. and NBTHK Hozon papers. Full specs and details below Type (Tachi, Katana, Wakizashi, Tanto, Naginata, Other) : Wakizashi Mei : (Mumei, Signature) : Gassan Papered or not and by whom? : NBTHK Hozon Era/Age : Mid Muromachi (~1400) Shirasaya, Koshirae or Bare Blade? : Shirasaya Nagasa/Blade Length : 56.1 cm (22.1 in) Sori : 1.5 cm (0.6 in) Hamon Type : Mixed Jihada : Ayasugi hada Sword Location : New York, United States Will ship to : Prefer US but can ship globally countries (where allowed) Payment Methods Accepted : ACH/Wire Price and Currency : $5,200 USD - includes all handling, shipping and insurance costs Details: A Gassan Wakizashi from the Mid-Muromachi Period with a wide blade and deep curve. The signature ayasugi-hada is very prominent on the jigane. There are some minor cracks in the blade but is in otherwise good condition, especially considering its age. (I have highlighted the cracks in one of the pictures in the link below with green circles) The tang features a Gold Gassan signature, the specific smith is unknown as it was customary for smiths of this school to sign with Gassan only during this era. The techniques of this school were lost for a time time, only to eventually be revived by Gassan Sadakazu many generations later. Am attaching some images here on the forum but see the full detailed image set here with a verification photo (today's posting date and name of 4/1) and extra videos: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZO9ZkxP5a82qB1uTNG3cwlHT9ueRi92b?usp=drive_link Thank you for considering and message me with any questions/interest to purchase! -Kevin Yea Quote

kevin2208 Posted April 2 Author Report Posted April 2 Apologies, I should've made it more clear in my original post (can't edit now), but its indeed forging kitae ware. No fatal flaws!! Quote
kevin2208 Posted Monday at 09:11 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 09:11 PM Price has been reduced to $4500 (or reasonable offers). Also since it wasn't clear in the topic, but there are NBTHK Hozon papers! Its a great and beautiful blade, just need to make some room in my collection! 1 Quote
