Looking at the images in the listing it would appear that the silver is some sort of wash or thin plating, since it was wear patterns consistent with the ana being used. Very interesting to see this as a feature. It is very subtle, but effective.

This is an example from my own collection. Although… looking at it now I can’t quite decide if they are inserts or plating. There is a slightly raised lip, which feels like an insert, but it could just be the design.

I too find the design feature especially elegant as illustrated in your example. Looking more closely at the images in the listing I think its a silver insert as shown in Dale's but the facing edges have been stained black (you can see some run over in the side images) such that only the inner surface retains its shiny silver colour.

Yes, could well be tarnishing instead. I like the feature, it makes the ana really stand out.

Lewis,

the photo is not ideal to make a statement, but I would like to know what makes this TSUBA an OMORI school item. Is it signed or accompanied by papers? An unusual design in my eyes.

I linked to the listing above. Lots of photos on the dealer site. Unsigned but it does have NBTHK papers for Omori.

I'm very surprised by the Omori School papers.

Personally, I thought this was high grade Kaga Kinko up there with some of the examples in the Kaga Kinko Taikan.

Just listed on Jauce  https://www.jauce.com/auction/e1179272417  and Buyee  https://buyee.jp/item/jdirectitems/auction/e1179272417    Out of my price range! :o

Quaint but not for me... But did you catch that Fujin tsuba that just sold for 4000 AUD? That one was right up my alley and way beyond my financial limitations!

Would have liked to display it alongside the tengu kashira in my profile picture but alas, some big spenders locked eyes on it!

There are a pair of other certified Omori school fuchigashira on Jauce up for grabs right now for anyone interested in this specific style...
