menpo Posted March 5 Report Posted March 5 Picked this tsuba a while back. Rather simple in shape but very good iron. It appears in the book owari to mikawa no tanko. It is signed Bishu Nagoya Kitani Shigehiro. I have not seen another work by this individual and can't find any information on him. I wonder if any of the more experienced members here have any information on him. Many thanks Gethin Quote
SteveM Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Resident of Nagoya in Owari province. Late Edo period. (per Wakayama). Same school as Shigemasa and Shigemitsu (重正 and 重光, respectively). Very short entry. 2 Quote
Tim Evans Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Translation of the the book Owari To Mikawa no Tanko lists Shigehiro as a maker of Shiire tsuba, or, tsuba for stock. He is listed in the Haynes Index as H 08258, but no other information other than what has already been posted. If you don't mind my asking, how did it come to you? I think it is interesting to track how these items move around. . . Quote
