Picked this tsuba a while back. Rather simple in shape but very good iron. It appears in the book owari to mikawa no tanko. It is signed Bishu Nagoya Kitani Shigehiro. I have not seen another work by this individual and can't find any information on him. I wonder if any of the more experienced members here have any information on him.

Many thanks

Gethin

Resident of Nagoya in Owari province. Late Edo period. (per Wakayama). Same school as Shigemasa and Shigemitsu (重正 and 重光, respectively). Very short entry.

Translation of the the book Owari To Mikawa no Tanko lists Shigehiro as a maker of Shiire tsuba, or, tsuba for stock. He is listed in the Haynes Index as H 08258, but no other information other than what has already been posted. If you don't mind my asking, how did it come to you? I think it is interesting to track how these items move around.
