Hi all;

an old gentleman asked me if the type 95 he owns is legit or not.

To me, everything seems ok (Suya/Tokyo I guess), but she  falls in a serial range where some swords have already the iron tsuba. Also, I'm not totally confident with the digit "1" on the S/N, which seems a bit off.

Before calling her 100% legit, what do you think?

TIA,

Also, I wouldn't worry about the tsuba. Different arsenals adopted the iron tsuba at different times. Your example, with those stamps and #s, is within the pattern2 range like I would expect to see :thumbsup:

In the Suya 146K to 149K serial range, brass crossguards were the majority while steel was the minority.  So both will show up, but just that the brass is more common.

Looks OK to me.  For comparison, see serial number 148224.

Help with a bit of information on this type 95
