lorn9800 Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 If some of you could help to evaluate this wakizashi , I would be very grateful. Apparently it would come from Echizen, but we couldn't really decrypt / attribute the signature. 1 Quote
Yumso Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 Hmm I think mei is written Echizen juu Masafusa(越前住宗次) though that mei seems choppy for me. Quote

Expand Wouldn't this be Munetsugu? I also don't know if this is the same smith but Fujishiro mentions a Munemichi that signed Munetsugu initially from Echizen Shimosaka: Quote MUNEMICHI KAZUSA NO DAIJÔ [KANBUN 1661 ECHIZEN] SHINTÔ CHÛJÔSAKU He is called Sugatani Kyûrôemon, and he also signed KAZUSA NO KAMI. His initial mei was MUNETSUGU. He lived in Echizen Shimosaka, his style resembles that of Musashi no Kami Kanenaka, and most of his works are exuberant. moriarty Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 Greetings Laurent, Closest mei I found for comparison. A few more close-up pictures of the blade under good lighting would help with identification. (Hamon, bohi, etc.) https://www.e-sword....1110_1102syousai.htm Quote
