Samurai_Kevin Posted Wednesday at 03:23 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:23 AM Hey everyone! My name is Kevin. This is my first post on the message board, so not sure exactly how it works. I’m new to Japanese swords. I was wondering if anyone can tell me about this Japanese sword I just got? I believe it is from world war 2 but not sure. Quote
nihon Posted Wednesday at 06:43 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 06:43 AM You need closer, higher quality pictures of the blade and tang in order to make the attribution Quote
Shugyosha Posted Wednesday at 08:43 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 08:43 AM Hi Kevin, Welcome to the forum. If you push the peg out of the handle, you'll be able slide it off of the tang along with the the guard, washers and collar. As Jedediah says, it's hard to give an opinion without some detail shots of the naked blade. Also, you might want to post pictures of the design on the leather cover as they seem unusual but I'm not a military swords guy and you will get some better opinions there. Quote
moriarty Posted Wednesday at 08:49 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 08:49 AM Greetings Kevin, As stated above by John, it's a pretty strange design in the leather cover and the attached tassel at the bottom of it, for better or worse, haven't seen something similar anywhere else. If possible, try taking at least one close-up picture of the attached tassel to try and assess the quality. Quote
Stephen Posted Wednesday at 09:47 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 09:47 AM I'm not worried about the tassel GIs did a lot of strange things to them. Read up on how to remove the peg that holds the tsuka/ handel on. We'll walk you through it. 2 Quote
