Other Info and Full Description

My great-uncle brought this sword back from the Pacific Theatre during WW2 and gave it to my father. My father then gave it to me. I'm looking to rehome it to someone who cares more than I do.  i have had the writing on the scabbard Losely translated

肥前島原之住居原庄右衛門之遺刀

I think this would translate as "the inherited sword of Ihara Shôemon, resident of Shimabara, province of Hizen".

The surname could also be read as "Ibara" or Inohara". [Shimabara](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shimabara,_Nagasaki) is a city in the Nagasaki prefecture

Gray,

this looks like a (heavily damaged) WAKIZASHI (not wakazashi), and it has nothing to do with WWII. Although it is in bad condition, it should NEVER rest on concrete or any other hard surface.
