The language in the title is more than enough for me to avoid this user more than the sketchy seller 🤣

Oh, am I meant to be offended by that put down Matt? Takes a lot more than snide remarks and downvotes, sweetheart. 😊

Despite the somewhat sarcastic title, the original intention of this post was to highlight a Japanese dealer who had already made a huge profit on an obvious forgery and was now attempting to sell a gunto with the very rare blackened fittings. These are very obviously also modern made and therefore my sole intention was to warn the many gunto collectors out there.

If you took it as something more devious than that, well that's on you.

The title was a reference to this Yahoo JP seller who previously listed a sword they claimed belonged to Hideki Tojo. It was not intended as a racial slur. Understandable that poor phrasing could cause confusion. But then again, who would come to this forum to disrespect Japanese?

From what I can see the Koshirae is at least original, everything after that is rather suspect. Perhaps a general thread on suspect Gunto would be useful, rather than a new thread on every shoddy listing.

A simple "OH! Haven't seen that thread" would sufice.

Nothing I like better than hoping to read about swords, then spend the rest of the morning reading people arguing.

You are absolutely right Bruce and I do apologize.
I shouldn't bite at all my critics - it's just not worth it (and anyhow, there's far too many on here to lose any sleep about).

As you probably guessed, I was only trying to warn people off this particular dealer. Often newbies trust Japanese sellers more than others simply because they are Japanese (and no Matt, that isn't being racist).

John @PNSSHOGUN that's a very productive idea and makes far more sense than what I've been doing.
Thank you.

Don’t we have enough in this world to be angry about without pulling a hair trigger here to blast someone based on the assumption of a mean spirit? One of the most destructive aspects of our hobby is that some dealers take advantage of those who are less sophisticated. I applaud Dee for making people aware that caution must be exercised as we evaluate what the market presents to us.
It would be helpful if we all were more cautious about blasting one another without very careful consideration of the reason. Here it is clear that Dee’s focus was on the sword, and what was being presented about the sword. The shift into a personal attack was wrong. I respectfully suggest an apology is in order.

Those words really mean a lot to me Ray.

Thank you so much!
