Matsunoki Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 Well to my eyes the koshirae in the papers is not the one illustrated. The tsuka looks very different, the tsuba looks a different size. Also the tsuba on the koshirae looks like a “Mr Suzuki Nagoya mono” ie mass produced (often in Mino style) to look better than it is. Can you show a close up of the tsuka image in the papers? Do they look the same to you? see this link 1 Quote
Matsunoki Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 1 minute ago, Rawa said: It must be legit Why must it be legit? People mess with things to make them more saleable etc Tsuka Ito looks a different colour. In the images it looks black, on the papers it looks a far lighter colour. One thing for sure, the tsuba isn’t good imo. Also the sageo looks a different colour and possibly a different length. Working from these images makes it tricky but you are the one with the paper and the koshirae (I assume) so not much else I can say. Or Are you thinking of buying this? Quote
Rawa Posted January 28 Author Report Posted January 28 I bought it 10 years ago for 500$ look on samegawa and mekugi ana Quote
Matsunoki Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 Did you look at the Nagoya link I sent you? If so you would have seen this…..compare to yours. samegawa and mekugi ana could suggest it could be the same tsuka but what about the ito colour etc Quote
Rawa Posted January 28 Author Report Posted January 28 What is your opinion on item? It have any good art meaning? Quote
Matsunoki Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 7 minutes ago, Rawa said: What is your opinion on item? It have any good art meaning? Sorry to sound harsh but you have a low quality Tanto or wakizashi koshirae. The tsuka core does look the same but……. Samegawa looks the type that has pieces of carved Ivory (sometimes bone) inserted to look like the large nodules found on high quality samegawa. (That is quite a common thing - to make it look better than it really is). Look at the gaps around them. You can see they are separate pieces stuck in. The tsuba is a mass produced low quality piece in terrible condition. Someone has lacquered the original tsuka ito presumably to stop it fraying? Shishi and peony are a popular subject, Google might tell you more bout the symbolism. Best bit is probably the kozuka and kogatana Again, apologies but best to be honest……and it’s just my opinion. See what others say. Quote
Rawa Posted January 28 Author Report Posted January 28 So Nbthk issued certificate for trash or is it forged? Quote
ROKUJURO Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 Marcin, you do not seem to understand. Colin is perfectly correct in describing differences between the (old) ORIGAMI and the present state. He did not say it was trash, but parts of it look like low quality. In addition to that, I think I can see that the lacquer of the SAYA has been repaired. All in all, I repeat what Colin wrote: ....you are the one with the paper and the koshirae....so you should see if all parts are matching the paper. If not, they could have easily been swapped after the ORIGAMI was issued. Quote
Rawa Posted January 28 Author Report Posted January 28 Picture and item matches but its not my point. If I buy I buy with certificate. I heard there was a time when nbthk certificates were forged. How can I buy anything now? Should I ask in forum at every occasion? It will be rude. There is still so much items to get. Im collector in full meaning. Quote
Franco Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 The reason Japanese recommend to begin learning and studying the best swords possible (and Japanese sword furniture as well), is so that when we see "bad" swords and Japanese sword furniture it hurts your eyes. Now let's see, where did I leave those eye drops? Quote
Matsunoki Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 Just now, Rawa said: Should I ask in forum at every occasion Yes and we are happy to help. Just now, Rawa said: ? It will be rude. Not if you do it nicely🙂 1 minute ago, Rawa said: There is still so much items to get. My advice, know what you are buying and buy the best quality your budget allows. Don’t be in a hurry. One good thing will give you more pleasure than a load of low quality pieces. As for papers, personally I ignore them and just buy what I think is good quality…..and sometimes I get it wrong. 1 Quote
