Ditzybitzy Posted January 16 Report Posted January 16 (edited) Hi everyone looking for any information on what this could possibly be. Found in a friends man cave, were told it is a samurai sword and despite all our efforts we still are none the wiser. So we thought we’d try asking you all for any help or advice you could give us on what it is or where to look? Please and thank you. Edited January 16 by Ditzybitzy Added photo. Quote
Ian B3HR2UH Posted January 16 Report Posted January 16 Based in the three square inches that I can see I would say that it is a real Japanese blade . It is almost impossible to read the signature most of which seems to have rusted away. There is possibly a Kin or Kane in there . A photo of the overall sword and of the full tang might help . 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted January 16 Report Posted January 16 Re advice. Do not polish the tang (remove the patination) any further. 1 Quote

Looks interesting to me though! 1 Quote

PNSSHOGUN Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 By some of the marks on the blade it looks like some idiot has taken to it with an angle grinder or power sander. From the last two photos it appears to be a WWII era sword that was significantly corroded, the over zealous belt sanding was the final nail in the coffin unfortunately. Quote
