secretstamos Posted Wednesday at 10:44 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 10:44 PM Recently purchased this sword. Is this an authentic NCO sword? From what I understand about the markings: Nagoya stamp on the blade and scabbard. Font looks correct to me as well. Seller also seemed reputable to me. Is there anything I'm missing? I still have a rather healthy return window. Thanks! 1 Quote
robinalexander Posted Wednesday at 11:33 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 11:33 PM Nice one Eric ...looks good to me and I would buy it. It's one of the rarer side latches, congratulations. Have a look at this very good link 1 1 Quote
robinalexander Posted Thursday at 12:25 AM Report Posted Thursday at 12:25 AM PS ...don't pull it apart...not meant to be (only type 97's & 98's) ...and no point. 1 Quote
drb 1643 Posted Thursday at 01:13 AM Report Posted Thursday at 01:13 AM It’s totally legit and as already mentioned a rare side latch. Nice score! 1 Quote

secretstamos Posted Thursday at 03:59 PM Author Report Posted Thursday at 03:59 PM Fantastic, I'll check that out Is there any way to determine the approximate year from the serial number and type? I'm curious about that. Quote

I have never seen an NCO in the 300k serial number range. I had previously thought they only went up to ~200k+ Cheers, -Sam Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted Thursday at 05:15 PM Report Posted Thursday at 05:15 PM @Kiipu and/or @BANGBANGSAN might be able to give you a date range based on the number. Our leading NCO experts are no longer active, or they could give you a really good idea. Interesting to note, that they only made 4,000 of these side latch versions, so they are actually more rare than the copper handled version! 1 hour ago, GeorgeLuucas said: I have never seen an NCO in the 300k serial number range. Yes, I have seen a few. Working from memory, so could be wrong, but I believe the range was given to the Jinsen Arsenal for production. 1 Quote

Thanks for the serial# info, Bruce. That's interesting! It's a shame @Shamsy and others are no longer active. Are there currently any leading experts on NCO 95s? I've been reading a lot about 95s, and hope to become pretty knowledgeable (after a few years maybe). Sorry Eric! Very cool side latch, and very hard to find! One of those models I keep an eye out for. Cheers, -Sam Quote

They had 80+ 95s EACH, and really studied them. There are several of us, that together, we can get most of what we need. If anyone would like to take their title, we would sure welcome you! 1 Quote
