Stephen Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 I started with a snipe that ran out and then I started bidding was out bid at each step and out bid so I gave it up. Played that game one too many times. Just liked the offbeat design, I go for the ones are not the norm, it would have been nice to have but c'est la vie I also asked myself why are you bidding on Tsuba you haven't bought anything and not cared about them for some time. I blame it on a new enthusiastic member who's buying right in left... Boy do I remember them days lol She knows who I'm talking about https://buyee.jp/ite.../auction/e1168870068 2 1 Quote
Stephen Posted January 15 Author Report Posted January 15 Imagine that it ended where I needed to one more time, that out bid would have keep on going! Quote
Jesta Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 Sensible move. Gotta set a limit and stick to it… There’s always “one more bid” otherwise. 1 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 Stephen, "she" did not win it. It is a TEIMEI TSUBA, signed SADANAGA, not SADAYOSHI, and unusually large. 1 Quote
Stephen Posted January 15 Author Report Posted January 15 Maybe something Lost in Translation I was saying she was the one that got me looking to buy again I didn't apply that she bought it or maybe I'm lost in what you're saying a short trip nowadays On 1/15/2025 at 3:32 PM, ROKUJURO said: she" did not win it. ROKUJURO Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 Probably I just misunderstood you. I thought you had been bidding against her. 1 Quote

Robert S Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 I didn't know that Picasso ever designed tsuba... but that is clearly a cubist tsuba! 2 Quote

ROKUJURO Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 Yes, one could think so, but in fact, it is a naturalistic depiction of a steering rudder of a boat (called FUNA KADASHI in the auction's description). 3 1 Quote

Spartancrest Posted January 16 Report Posted January 16 I swear they never just make one - https://japaneseswor...-inshu-suruga-tsuba/ you can see the boards making up the blade of the rudder on this one. https://jameelcentre...ction/8/object/20286 3 1 1 Quote

ROKUJURO Posted January 16 Report Posted January 16 Dale, thank you so much! Very interesting to see the small variations! Unfortunately, I cannot read the signatures properly, but they seem not to be all by TEIMEI (SADANAGA). Quote
