Hi Mark,

Good try...I think this is

Nanto Ju Kanefusa saku

Kanefusa, a resident of Nanto made (this).

Cheers, George.

Yes, NANTO meaning "Southern Capital", Nara I believe.

Regards,

BaZZa.

Of course, you are right Moriyama san...

it is "Nanto Kanabo Hyo(e)" probably one of the "Masa" smiths.

25 years ago I myself had a very nice blade signed "Kanabo Hayato no jo Masazane" (I think Mas 849). You'd think I'd recognize the Kanefusa as "Kanabo"...totemo hazukashi yo!!!

Mark, this looks like one of the Kanabo group of Nara who worked certainly between 1500-1600. Can show us pics of the blade and overall etc.?

Regards,

George.

Hi Guys

Thank for that; sorry for the late reply; I am sure I replied with thanks before byt maybe my mind is as good as my kanji reading.

Hi George

I was thinking of buying this item but decided not to; was pretty sure the mei was not genuine / authentic, so passed; so I can not post any photos sorry.

Again thanks and sorry for the late "thank you".

Mark
