Good day to you all, how do these koshirae fittings fit together and disassemble? Any input would be appreciated for my understanding. Thank you

Hi Ron , not 100% but i think you would remove the cords from the Tsuka then unscrew the Mekugi cylinder  ??

So we assume the cord cylinder is what is being used as the Mekugi? Thank you

I’m also not 100% but I think Ray is right. The mekugi (cord cylinder) could consist of a female internally threaded tube into which a male threaded bolt or screw inserts from the other side. One thing to be careful with, sometimes they have an opposite thread ie turn clockwise to loosen.

May just be the photos, but this looks like a separate piece:

I'm thinking the kabutogane comes off via the barrel screw, and the metal tsuka "cover" slides off and there's a hidden mekugi?

Ok that makes sense for this one above but the tweezer version…?? Maybe same way?

I'm assuming the top one is as ray said. The bottom may very well be the same.

Here's another in a mueseum.  Looks like remains of a pin through the nakago to hold the tsuka on.
