Katsuie question

I know that there were at least 10 generations of Katsuie from Kaga province. Could you help me with pointing which one made that sword?

Unfortunately there is no specification on the generation. Paper just states that there is a mei Katsuie.

Is this an NTHk paper? If so, there’s normally more information on the back - it’s in columns with the shinsa panel’s seals in red. If you post that you may get a better opinion.

Sadly its old nbthk (1969). Dunno how old it is katsuie were active from 14 to 18 century

Hi Rawa,

Looking at the shape of the blade, smallish point and koshi zori, I'd say it was pre 1600 and perhaps earlier than that if that helps.

Friend of mine concluded that blade is weak becouse somebody was amateurishly removing rust. Im still going to like it. Do you think that fuchi is gimei?

It is katana Mei not Tachi Mei

Almost certainly: if genuine I think the fuchi and kashira alone would make up a significant proportion of the value of this package, if not exceed it. I don't think Komonjo would let that one slip past.
