Kurikata Posted November 30, 2024 Report Posted November 30, 2024 Please can you help me in translating this tsuba mei ? Thank you Quote
uwe Posted December 1, 2024 Report Posted December 1, 2024 No one? So I start with a bold guess…”利光刀” (Toshimitsu horu). 2 1 Quote
Kurikata Posted December 1, 2024 Author Report Posted December 1, 2024 Thank you Uwe, An other possibility: 利 夹 刀 What do you think about it ? Thank you. Quote
uwe Posted December 2, 2024 Report Posted December 2, 2024 Although it looks like a match at first glance, Bruno, I don’t think so… 夹 is a rather unusual kanji especially for names! There was a certain Mitsunaga around 1850-1923, who used this kind of writing for 光 in his signature. So I suspect they might had some relationships?! 1 Quote
Kurikata Posted December 3, 2024 Author Report Posted December 3, 2024 I got another hypothesis as this signature could be read as Toyo.... I couldn't find any tsubako with such a name and with these kanji. Quote
