Kurikata Posted November 28, 2024 Report Posted November 28, 2024 Hi, Are you familiar with this tsuba shape ? Do you know similar tsuba shape in any other collection ? I would call it Okame Gata due to the shape as an Okame face. How would you call it? Thank you Quote
kyushukairu Posted November 29, 2024 Report Posted November 29, 2024 Hello Bruno. If you interpret the small protruding circular shapes on either side as cheeks and at the bottom as a chin, then I can see the resemblance to Okame/ Otafuku, but the design may simply be a kamon with three repeated images. In that case, it would probably be classified as 'kawari-gata' (変わり形), which is used for unusual shaped tsuba. 2 Quote
Spartancrest Posted November 29, 2024 Report Posted November 29, 2024 Sort of - maybe? If you look a little hard you might see three long arm monkeys in the design [strain- strain!!] 3 1 Quote
