This is last tsuba mei

It has been on the NMB before and was described as 'a rare O-SOTEN tsuba' but this means nothing to me

The back is very faint and maybe the translation is wishful thinking but it kinda fits

John

I checked the link and see it is Edo - that is a broad spectrum

I'll recheck my books for Mogarashi as I couldn't find it the first time I looked. I'll try Sesko's book

Thanks Kyle

Yes a bit of a mess

I mixed up Mogarashi with the earlier tsuba!

Doh

No problem

I found this out on the internet

Shakudo tsuba by Soten.  Signed, Eshu Hikone Ju Mogarashi Soten.
The school was founded by Shoten, and the first mei was Kitagawa Uji Soten.  He was born in Kyoto, and later lived in Goshu (Omi province) Hikone, and was the originator of style of work referred to as Hikone bori.  He is of the Go of Soheishi (Mogarashi).
There is a story that Soten resided in Kyoto during the Edo period, after Genroku (1688 -1704), when this type of complicated and gaudy works were highly prized.

This is fair to good condition
