Okan Posted November 24 Report Posted November 24 Not sure if you’ve seen this photo before, but I thought I should share it. This is General Walter Krueger, who presented a Masamune to President Truman. 4 1 Quote

PNSSHOGUN Posted November 24 Report Posted November 24 General Kreuger was commander during the Philipines campaign followed by occupation duty in Kyoto. May explain the mix of military and traditional swords. 1 Quote
Okan Posted November 24 Author Report Posted November 24 Krueger could have easily kept the Masamune for himself and given Truman a Gunto like MacArthur did to Roosevelt..I think that’s what he was thinking in the first picture. 1 Quote
KungFooey Posted November 25 Report Posted November 25 He seemed real concerned everyone knew how many stars he had. (Or maybe he was fishing for number 5?) 2 Quote

John C Posted Monday at 04:17 PM Report Posted Monday at 04:17 PM Is that bucket made from a large artillery shell? Anzio Annie perhaps? John C. Quote
David Flynn Posted Monday at 08:57 PM Report Posted Monday at 08:57 PM Seeing this is the Pacific theatre, I doubt it's from Anzio Annie. More likely a Japanese Artillery piece. Quote
John C Posted Tuesday at 12:19 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 12:19 AM 3 hours ago, David Flynn said: More likely a Japanese Artillery piece. I wasn't sure because I thought naval ships used case-less ammo and I couldn't think of an artillery piece that would fire something that big. The largest howitzer shell we used was a 240mm, which I think is smaller than that can. John C. 1 Quote
EdWolf Posted Tuesday at 02:59 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:59 PM Looks like a WW1 German shell. Dicke Bertha howitzer shell. https://www.kaisersbunker.com/cc/cc16.htm 1 Quote
