Dog Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 Hi everyone, First post, I'm Michael. I regularly browse auctions and this forum just to tempt myself but I haven't got the knowledge (and often the money) to commit to buying a nihonto. I'm trying to slowly change the knowledge issue so I was hoping to get your opinions on this sword: https://www.invaluab...tion-lot/_6E44725B14 The shape is throwing me off especially the kissaki. The photos don't make it very easy to read the characters but any translation would be a bonus. I'm not looking to buy it just wanting to learn and train my eye a bit. Quote

Thanks Bruce! Thought so but just didn't know if it was atypical or inauthentic. On a formatting note, is it better to upload the pics directly into a post? Quote
Jim P Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 Is this really authentic? No, save your money look at link, Quote

There are several of us that search through forums, going back several years. Links often go dead after some time goes by and the pictures are lost to research. So, I prefer posting relevant photos to the discussion with an added link to the site for guys that want to know more. 2 1 2 Quote
Sansei Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 Michael, I am not familiar with that website. On some websites and auctions the seller(s) may not know the difference(s) between authentic Japanese and "other" swords. You may want to let the vendor know that this is not an authentic Japanese sword. If they actually DO know, then I would avoid this website. 1 Quote
