3Jean Posted October 23, 2024 Report Posted October 23, 2024 Good morning, I've been looking for a decent WWII type-98 gunto sword and I have a question about one I found on EBay. It's not signed, but I'm wondering if the stamps are real. They're asking $1.5k. Thanks in advance! John Quote
Conway S Posted October 23, 2024 Report Posted October 23, 2024 Hello John, If you are looking for an Army Type 98, then that is not the right sword for you. This one is a Navy Type 97. The sword is original and the blade is made of an anti-rust steel commonly found of WW2 naval swords. The black paint are sub-assembly numbers correlating to the numbers on the fittings and the little anchor stamp is an inspection mark. It has been on eBay for over a year, so that should tell you it’s probably not a good price. Conway 2 2 Quote
3Jean Posted October 23, 2024 Author Report Posted October 23, 2024 Hi Conway, Thanks very much for responding! I'm still learning about the WWII swords and this really helps. I may send them a real low-ball offer and see if they bite. Best regards John 1 Quote
