Bosco Posted October 22 Report Posted October 22 Hi guys, I'm new to the board. Looking to purchase my first Nihonto. I came accrose this one. Does this mei look legit ? and how to I know which generation made this one. It doesn't have any paperwork. As I checked it is Hizen Kuni Tadayoshi. Thanks Quote
Brian Posted October 22 Report Posted October 22 Tadayoshi is among the most faked mei, without papers you have to start off assuming gimei and then have the sword prove otherwise. You won't get much info from just the nakago, need pics of the sword, workmanship etc etc. @omidaijo is your go-to with these. 1 Quote
Jacques D. Posted October 26 Report Posted October 26 I haven't checked the mei, but the downward-engraved left tagane of the yoshi kanji is a feature of the 4th and 5th generations. Photos of the blade are generally useless, as you can't see anything. Quote
