Carved in relief with a three-flower wisteria crest, which was the kamon of the Kuroda clan (who were famous for building Himeji castle and fighting for Tokugawa at Sekigahara). Possibly Bushu-Ito school, which excelled in carving in relief.

A very nice, iron tsuba etched with vines, kiri mon (Ashikaga/ Akamatsu/ Toyotomi) and three-leaf gentian mon (三つ葉竜胆) (Murakami Genji) in silver zogan.

The tsuba tapers from the seppadai to the mimi, and has a very nice, well-blanced feel.
