Nicholas Posted October 13 Report Posted October 13 Hi All, I believe the translation is Minamoto Sadashige saku kore. But can’t seem to figure out the upper part and also the date. Is there any other information on this smith? Any help is greatly appreciated. 2 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted October 13 Report Posted October 13 This looks like a very nice Osaka Gassan katana by the Sadakatsu student Kawano Sadashige. Dated a lucky day in August 1944. 3 Quote

Bruce Pennington Posted October 14 Report Posted October 14 Nicholas, Can you check the nakago mune for me? Might be a "saka" stamp with numbers. Quote

Nicholas Posted October 15 Author Report Posted October 15 Thanks Ray, The blade is in good condition as well. It had some kinda film on it that came off with some elbow grease and revealed a well preserved wartime polish. It was a good find. Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted October 15 Report Posted October 15 Thanks for the number, Nicholas! That was a common practice with the RJT blades. I have a mix of both saka + number and just numbers. Quote
