Brian Posted October 8 Report Posted October 8 As @vajo pointed out, some regular members have started reaching their total attachment size quota. For regular members, this was around 1 Gig, and for Gold members it was 2 Gigs. I think this is more than most forums allow anyone, and most advocate for external file hosting. But that is a problem for a forum such as ours, where historical info is important to be able to search way back. I don't think anyone expected the forum to last over 18 years! That is next to mindblowing for any internet forum. Anyways, I don't want people not to be able to upload attachments and share info, so I have increased regular member allocation to 1.5 Gigs, and Gold members to 2.5 Gigs. I am not sure how this will affect the hosting. I may have to pay for more storage. But let's see. All I ask is for people who are willing and able, to take a Gold membership if they can. It is the only way we are able to sustain what we do. If you can't, it's ok. I understand. As of now, no-one should be blocked from posting attachments for a while. PLEASE guys, in a world where 8 meg photos is the norm, please do consider sizing your pics down. We really don't need pics that are several megs big. A decent photo can be sized down to under 400kb and still be detailed. Look up free image resizers. Don't just upload pics from your phone in high res. I can't afford to pay much more for hosting without more Gold members renewing or new ones joining. Anyways, enjoy the extra upload limit, and please post if you find you reach your max, don't be silent. 2 2 2 Quote
robinalexander Posted October 8 Report Posted October 8 Hi Brian .... Matsunoki Posted October 9 Report Posted October 9 Trouble is some of us old twits aren’t that good on the tech. I did try and download an image resizer and got into a huge mess trying to use it. Anyone recommend a safe and EASY one? Quote
Brian Posted October 9 Author Report Posted October 9 https://imageresizer.com/ https://www.simpleimageresizer.com/ https://www.reduceimages.com/ https://www.adobe.co...feature/image/resize (Can do this on your mobile too) For Android or iOS https://www.shrink.media/ Or on cellphone, just choose to take pics at a smaller size. robinalexander Posted October 9 Report Posted October 9 Brian, before I drill down here...does this mob include an Android reducer for Video? Quote
Brian Posted October 9 Author Report Posted October 9 I think Adobe is your best bet for that. But plenty of free ones out there if you check the Google Play store and check star ratings. 1 Quote

Thanks Thomas but I mostly use an iPad I do try to screenshot and crop but that seems very erratic in its results. Sometimes drastic reduction, sometimes hardly any. Quote
The Blacksmith Posted October 10 Report Posted October 10 I have used Faststone photoresizer for many years, fast, easy and free! faststone photo resizer Quote
Brian Posted October 10 Author Report Posted October 10 Screenshot is a terrible and long way to do it. I would never bother with that. Just go to one of the free online resizers, and resize there, from your photo albums. Much easier. No app needed, it's all online. 1 Quote
Matsunoki Posted October 10 Report Posted October 10 @Brian…..thanks. Read the article and opted for “simpleimageresizer”.After some stumbling and mumbling I think I’ve got it which is a minor miracle. Apologies for previous large file uploads. Quote
Mark S. Posted October 11 Report Posted October 11 iPhone… I just email photos to myself and it automatically asks me if I want to resize and save. Not sure if android offers this. 1 1 Quote
