Hudson Posted September 26, 2024 Report Posted September 26, 2024 I am a new member but have been reading and learning from this forum for a while. I have been collecting Japanese firearms for a while and more recently Japanese militaria and swords. I am thinking of working on how I display these items and am considering building an nco manikin. I know type 95 swords were issued to NCOs but at what rank would one be issued a sword? Lowly corporals? sergeants? I ask because I have an opportunity to buy a sergeant uniform shirt and pants but would only get it if it makes sense as part of a display along with my shin gunto… Quote
Kiipu Posted September 26, 2024 Report Posted September 26, 2024 Pat, the first page of NIck's thread goes into who could carry the Type 95. Short Development History of Type 95 Gunto Besides the lower ranks, officers could also buy or rent a Type 95. So the Type 95 could be carried by just about anyone if entitled to carry a sword. With that said, it is unlikely a colonel or general would be seen with one! Good luck with the display manikin. 4 1 Quote
