John A Stuart Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Hi All, I thought these gif images might be interesting. They are old stereographs of Meiji period Japan put in gif animated format to give the 3-D effect. Thanks to a friend on another forum for finding them. John A Stuart Posted December 29, 2009 Author Report Posted December 29, 2009 That is what I thought. It is the only way to achieve the effect without a stereoscope. Persistance of vision. John Quote
Brian Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 That's actually pretty good. I get a fairly decent 3D image. Thanks John. A good look back in time. Brian Quote
sensei215 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 It's really a pleasure to see the photo. It seems nice and serene. A nice use of modern techonolgy. I wonder where the nearest sword shop is located. Quote
David Flynn Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I visited the Dai Butsu in Nov. It doesn't move, but my mind does Quote
John A Stuart Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 You ought to see the one in Chengdu. Carved out of a mountainside. I think around 30 m. or so. John Quote

Bugyotsuji Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 John, it's still moving. Bit of a waste of electricity. Did you forget to switch it off? Quote
