Just thought I would see what you guys would have to say about this axe I’ve had for about 20 years IMG_4144.thumb.jpeg.39f55c452f3cd0038592b9cfb8b4ec8d.jpegIMG_4149.thumb.jpeg.acdff785d616f734f875d0cd19696e09.jpegand I think it was pretty old when I got it, but I have no knowledge of where it came from who made it or how old it is

The axe is called Masakari () in Japanese. It is a carpenter’s tool and used to shave a log.

Ref. 道具を使う『まさかりとちょうな』/竹中大工道具館ビデオライブラリー(Japanese) (youtube.com)

The characters on the axe are

登録商標 – Registered trademark

龍之 – Tatsuyuki (reading?)

土佐 – Tosa

特製 – Special made.
