Swords Posted September 15 Author Report Posted September 15 Thanks so much It nice knowing what it says I’m guessing MORIYAMA Koichi is his name do you know what this is about 米岡隊 - Yoneoka team 梅津 - Umezu Thanks again Quote
Brian Posted September 15 Report Posted September 15 Moriyama Koichi is the name of the person who replied. Not the translation Don't know if this team had anything to do with General Umezu. Quote
Swords Posted September 15 Author Report Posted September 15 Thanks Brian I miss-red that one ! Sorry Moriyama Koichi If the 2nd translation is General Umezu. as Brian pointed out what’s the Yoneoka team unless they are both the same person or Yoneoka team has some meaning 米岡隊 - Yoneoka team 梅津 - Umezu Quote
Brian Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 Just a really wild guess, but if anything to do with him, then likely just a unit/group under his command. 1 Quote
Swords Posted September 16 Author Report Posted September 16 That sounds logical I doubt a general would be wearing this helmet although it would be nice Quote
Conway S Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 Steve, I don’t think that is the original liner. Do you notice how this one is cloth as opposed to leather and the rivet is added to the front? Looks like a post-war reissue job. Conway 1 1 Quote
Swords Posted September 17 Author Report Posted September 17 You’re talking about the rivet where the anchor is located? Quote
Swords Posted September 17 Author Report Posted September 17 I believe that rivet is supposed to be there and not all liners were leather I remember seeing one a dealer friend of mine had one like it But I can’t remember if it was one like mine Are you familiar with these NFL helmets? steve Quote
Swords Posted September 17 Author Report Posted September 17 I did check the liner with my black light and did not glow Also Why would someone put an original liner in the helmet ? The front rivet looks a little large but did the Japanese use rivets that were all the same specifications? If anyone can chime in on this it would help Steve Quote
Kiipu Posted September 17 Report Posted September 17 I am told by someone more knowledgeable than I am that it is a "navy" helmet and not necessarily a "NLF" helmet. If you have additional questions, I would suggest posting over at the Japanese subforum at WRF. WRF Japanese Militaria 2 Quote
Swords Posted September 17 Author Report Posted September 17 I did look at the liner and it passed the blue light so it original Also the rivets that hold it in place are original not messed with Reason it’s not leather is because Materials were short and it was cheaper or easier to use cloth rather than leather I also ran it by a dealer I know and said it all good The netting is also original which is a nice addition So thanks for everyone’s help Steve 1 Quote
Swords Posted September 25 Author Report Posted September 25 Hi meant to asked what the translation for the inside lip of the helmet says Thanks so much Steve Quote
