Can Etched blades be polished

Hallo and thanks 

 

I hope all are well out there. I wonder if any of the members have ever had a blade successfully polished when a prior owner has etched the blade with acid. I guess it depends how deep or aggressive the etching was done , but just as a principle is it is waste of time to try ?

Its a secret, but quite a few better people who buy unpolished blades etch them first to see at least what's hamon outline is. Polishing them afterwords is no problem at all, polishing generally removes more material than etching.
