ROKUJURO Posted September 9, 2024 Report Posted September 9, 2024 When I was in Japan recently (1977), I got a nice calligraphy from my KYUDO SENSEI as a farewell present. The KANJI MA ( 眞 ) is accompanied by the name (KAWASHIMA KIYOSHI, on the left) and a vertical column which I cannot read. Maybe it is fron the SEI FU KAN DÔJÔ or from HEKI RYU INSAI HA? Could I please ask for translation help for this? Quote
ROKUJURO Posted September 9, 2024 Author Report Posted September 9, 2024 MORIYAMA-SAN, thank you for the reminder! Quote

ROKUJURO Posted September 10, 2024 Author Report Posted September 10, 2024 MORIYAMA-SAN, thank you so much! Good to know that you were also taught in HEKI-RYU INSAI-HA. I think this was the closest school to real war-based archery of the SAMURAI era. The head of our school was INAGAKI SENSEI (HACHI DAN HANSHI) who visited Germany a number of times. I have very good memories of that time in Japan. The beautiful DÔJÔ was near KOBE, in KAWANISHI. KAWASHIMA SENSEI (6th DAN RENSHI at that time) was a very good teacher, generous, very patient and helpful. 1 Quote
Nobody Posted September 10, 2024 Report Posted September 10, 2024 I learned kyudo at university physical education class for one year. The supervisor of the class was Inagaki Genshiro sensei (稲垣源四郎). 1 1 Quote
