cisco-san
Hello, Some weeks ago I posted this blade in the "Nihonto" section, but till looking for information about this smith. Therefore I am posting it here in the "Military Swords of Japan" section again. The blade is signed: Yamato [no] kuni Tadayoshi (大和 国 忠義) and is dated Shôwa Jû Shichi Nen Shi Gatsu Kichi Hi (lucky day April Showa 17 (1942)) 昭和 十 七 年 四 月 吉 日 Unfortunately I can not find any information about this smith. The only information I have is, that the smith was most probably Suzuki Tadayoshi (based on information from the well known Chris Bowen). He has also no more information. I tried to find information about this smith in many books as well as on Web, but no luck. Even I can not find other blades signed this way. Any further information would be great... Many thanks in advance. Klaus
Bruce Pennington
Don't see him in Sesko's list. If anyone can find him, it would be @mecox. Nice blade!

Could this 忠義 (Tadayoshi) be 進藤忠義 (Shindo Tadayoshi)? In the 1942 大東亜戦末期の刀匠と序列(Swordsmiths and Their Rankings at the End of the Greater East Asia War)http://ohmura-study.net/025.html the names 進藤忠義(Shindo Tadayoshi)and 親房(Chikafusa) appeared among the swordsmiths, and they received the 会長賞(Chairman's award) for 研磨の部(Polishing department), indicating that they were likely working together.I also found 進藤忠義(Shindo Tadayoshi)'s name on the PTA list of 湖陵高校( Koryo High School)in 1951, with his occupation listed as 金物商(metal/hardware business man). No further information was found. 3
