den70 Posted August 25, 2024 Report Posted August 25, 2024 Colleagues, please advise me on this sword. They are offering it for sale, but I know little. The seller only said that the blade was made by a good master, 19th century. But unfortunately, he did not provide any more detailed information about the master. If necessary, I can take additional photos. Thanks for your help. The blade. Quote
Yumso Posted August 25, 2024 Report Posted August 25, 2024 I think I won't try this one. That patina there looks unnatrually straight.... 1 Quote
xiayang Posted August 25, 2024 Report Posted August 25, 2024 嘉永四亥二月日 = on a day in the second month of Kaei 4, year of the pig (1851 CE) 寛勇子元綱 = Kanyūshi Mototsuna I have not been able to find any record of a smith of this name. 3 Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted August 27, 2024 Report Posted August 27, 2024 Definately very unknown smith. There is a Mototsuna smith who signed - 伯耆国汗入郡岡村住元綱 and he is listed working around 元治 (1864-1865). Unfortunately I cannot provide any signature of item references for this smith. 2 Quote
