Thebaldraven Posted August 5 Report Posted August 5 Good afternoon everyone, I've seen a couple similar threads but never really found a direct answer so I was hoping posting one of my own would be the best approach. I live in southern California and I have a few swords that I was hoping to get an opinion on from someone who had more experience than myself. Especially a Tadatsuna from 1702 that I'm suspicious is a forgery and the seller was just using photoshop. I also have an order made sword for Suzuki Kishichiro Masakuni made by Tegarayama Masashige from 1794 that has a cutting test on it that I wanted to get an appraisal on. So if anyone knows any contact information for a reputable sword appraiser or just someone knowledgeable who may be willing to share their opinions, I would greatly appreciate it. I know my best shot was to bring them to the Token Kai in San Francisco that just passed but unfortunately I was unable to make it up this year do to my work schedule. Thank you in advance for any help or insight you may be able to offer! Best regards, Noah Quote
b.hennick Posted August 5 Report Posted August 5 Wait for next August and go to the show in San Francisco. Take your blades to the show. Quote
GeorgeLuucas Posted August 5 Report Posted August 5 There’s also a show in Vegas at the end of January. Not sure if that’s further or closer than SF for you, but it’s sooner! Best of luck, -Sam 1 Quote

Thebaldraven Posted August 6 Author Report Posted August 6 Thanks guys! That's great to know, I had no idea there was a sword show in Vegas! It's definitely closer than San Francisco too. Is the Vegas show similar to the Token Kai in the sense that it will have actual sword authorities from Japan in attendance and have a focus on expanding knowledge, etc, or is it just more of a place to buy / sell swords? SteveM Posted August 6 Report Posted August 6 There is also a sword club in Southern California that meets once a month in Gardena. Mike Yamasaki is usually the lecturer. The sword club's information is on Facebook: Nanka Token Kai. https://www.facebook...m/NankaTokenKaiSoCal 1 1 Quote
